Dear friends, I'm going to re-open my ordering schedule at this time, things have slowed down considerably on my end, but will probably get busy again late spring next year. So in the meantime, let's make some Regency dresses!! In the quest to make ends meet for my family, I took a contract job last summer, sewing letters, numbers and patches onto Hockey jerseys for teams near and far. This is also a rather seasonal affair, Hockey season is in full swing at this time and there's not much work to do, probably until late spring next year. I wish all of you the Best of luck in these hard economic times, a joyous Christmas and a good start into 2010. Ute :o) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rules and regulations I unfortunately had to adopt..... I will no longer accept bridal orders unless the fabrics and down payment are accompanied by the requested pictures for each person involved. A wedding dress is a very special thing and I feel greatly honored to be asked to make it and help make the dream of your special day come true. But if you're willing to spend hundreds, even thousands of Dollars for this day, the effort it takes to snap a few pictures should not be too much to ask. This is especially true in cases where the bride varies from the "norm", meaning she's not a perfect size 4. Who is, anyways. I have three adjustable sewing dress forms in different sizes that help me fit these gowns, but they have rigid plastic bodies and are all pretty much an A-cup. If I have pictures of you, I can see what your shape is and what you look like and this greatly helps me fit the dress. Any orders without pictures will either sit and wait until I have them or be returned. In any regard, work on a dress starts AFTER we have talked and nailed the dress design, the fabrics and notions have been purchased and measurements have been taken. So the pictures are not an immedeate thing when we first make contact, but a small part of the entire process. A case of procrastination on your part does not mean a case of emergency on my part.....But I do try my best to help in short notice situations......Sometimes they can't be avoided. I pride myself on quality work done without taking short cuts. I have set very high standards for myself and what I do. My clothing can be worn just like modern clothing, they are made to last. Such a dress or outfit is worth and comes with a reasonable price on my part, I think. Many women have told me my fees are extremely reasonable. If you don't want to spend more than $20 on a historical outfit, you're going to get exactly that: A $20 outfit. It used to be that the saying was true that stated: You get what you pay for. Well, in the case of this type of clothing, it still is true. I no longer work with silk chiffon or velvet in any form. These two fabrics don't come my way very often, but when they do, oh boy. Velvet is very hard to work with, due to it's nap it's close to impossible to attach anything to it. Silk chiffon plainly has a mind of it's own and one can spend an hour trying to lay it out straight on the table to only find out after finally cutting it that it is crooked after all. So instead of adding a hefty surcharge to an order that involves velvet or silk chiffon, I just won't work with it anymore. If you are insistent on it, just send me an e-mail and we can discuss it further then. Also, unless you live out of country or in the middle of Montana I will not be able to buy fabrics on behalf of my customers anymore. I'm a one woman operation and I work about 8-10 hours a day tending to this business. This is time spent sewing, doing accounting, keeping up with e-mails, listing dresses on ebay, fabric shopping, taking pictures and updating this website. In an effort to keep my turn around time and my fees reasonable I can no longer provide this service. I can also not order fabrics for you on the internet. I can, however, provide you with a list of places on the net to look for materials and will give you detailed guidelines and suggestions when it comes to fabrics and your specific dress you can take with you when you go to the store. I hope you will understand. Please be advised that your fabric shipment should be accompanied by a $75 deposit on the dress. Finished gowns will not be shipped until paid in full, unless other arrangements are made. I will let you get married in sweats, no kidding. Please be open and honest if you need to make special arrangements, as we can make them, if need be. I do take monthly payments.---> interest free. I do take PayPal and am set up to receive credit card payments with this service also. Any and every PayPal payment carries an extra charge, to share the payment receiving fee with me. The extra charge depends on the amount of money sent. I do not keep a waiting list. I serve on a first come, first serve basis. I try to respond to all e-mails in a timely fashion. Sometimes I reply to an e-mail and that's the last I hear of that person. I do not have time to keep checking back on you. I will assume you changed your mind. Once again, I apologize for all these stipulations, but they have become a necessary evil. As with all matters, if you have a question or need an expemption, feel free to contact me as I'm more than happy to discuss individual cases on a need to basis. |
