Laurie Bishop is a romance novel author, winning the 2002 Golden Heart Award for Best Regency novel. The Signet Regency will be available in stores in November this year, 2003. She'll be attending an author's convention with this gown, dressed to the T for her favorite period. Please visit her website for more info on what she does. |
Laurie's outfit was once again made from a pretty awesome interior deco fabric I tracked down. It has an almost tafetta like consistency, but not as stiff and was embroidered with a diamond shape pattern in gold. To compliment the dress I not only made a matching reticule, but also put my hands on a brand new Butterick pattern, making different women's period hats. The peacock feather matched the fabric the best. Laurie was aiming for less frill and more understated elegance, so there's little trim on her dress, the fabric does most of the talking. |
The cap consist of 8 oddly shaped sections, loads of fun to put together....... ;-) Using 2 different, but coordinating materials, offers itself here. The golden colored hatband can be used to fit the cap to your head. |
Here's a pic Laurie sent of the event she wore this to. Doesn't she look regal? Thank you Laurie, you made my day. |
