Laura's Prom gown

The young lady contacted me with a special wish: To re-create a gown worn by Kate Winslet's character Marianne in the motion picture Sense and Sensibility. I think I've come pretty close. It was impossible to find  a fancy Montana blue fabric that had a goldish floral pattern woven into it , so I tried to find a material as close as possible to the desired color and then embroidered a bit with a gold metallic floss. Voila!

Here's a shot of the reticule I made to go with it. Laura got some gold colored flats to wear with the dress, too. The reticule shows the ribbon I sewed on the skirt hem. The ribbon was wired and gave the thin charmeuse some body.
