Frequently asked questions...
What exactly is it that you do ?

I make and design historical fashion from the Regency, Empire or here in the US-Federal Era, about 1800-1810  for weddings, re-enactments and formal occasions. I also sell Day wear from this fashion era on eBay. My wedding services include the Bride's gown as well as bridesmaids dresses and other members of the wedding party. I unfortunately don't outfit men at this time, ladies only and children.

Where are you located?

I operate out of my home in Colorado Springs.

How much is your fee to make a Regency gown ?

Here is my fee schedule as of February 2010:

Day gowns made from cottons or muslins:  $100
Semi formals made from fabrics other than cottons, usually a fancier
version of a day dress : $150
Ball gowns, multi layered skirts, really fancy: $275
Wedding gowns: $450 and up
Bridesmaids gowns and flower girl dresses: To be determined with Bride, it depends.

All fees do not include fabrics and shipping cost!!

Shipping charges:  All items will ship via postal service priority mail with delivery confirmation for a flat rate of $11. If one flat rate box is not enough because your order is more than just a single dress or garment, a second box will be used and the cost then goes up to $22 or more.

Do I have to buy my own fabric or how does this work ?

I prefer for the customer to buy her own materials, this way we can be absolutely certain she likes her fabric choice. This way you also control the cost. If you're unsure about what to get, but have no problem with the colors to pick from, I will suggest certain materials to you, that would work best for the kind of dress you have in mind.

How can you make a dress for me without ever meeting me ?

I have 3 dress forms, that accomodate sizes from 4 to about 26. I will ask that you supply me with your body measurements, so I can then adjust the dressform to represent your body. I also require you send me a few pictures, so I know what you look like and have a better idea of your body shape. Once the basic dress is made, I will send it to you for a fitting. You can then try it on and determine what needs to be altered, if anything. Then you send it back and I make the necessary alterations and complete the dress.

Will you make me a dress from a pattern I like ?

Yes, I'd love to. If you have a pattern you like made, but are not sewing yourself, contact me and let me know the pattern number and what company makes it. I will then go and have a look at it to determine wether I can make it and how much it will cost. As a matter of fact, Sam's dress was a project like that.
