Bibi's JASNA event 2001, Seattle, WA JASNA: Jane Austen Society of North America |
IF YOU ROLL YOUR MOUSE OVER THE PICTURES, YOU WILL SEE AN ALTERNATIVE IMAGE!!!!!!!!!
This is Bibi's famed green Regency ball gown. She wore this to the 2001 JASNA event in Seattle, WA. It's the most popluar design I have come up with so far, I have reproduced this dress in one form or another countless times. The materials that make the dress where found in the interior deorator section of a fabric store. It never hurts to look there, too!

Bibi's JASNA event 2002, Toronto-Canada |
Here's the dress Bibi wore to the 2002 JASNA annual general meeting in Toronto. It is made from a satiny thin fabric in a peachy rose shade with a sheer material in the same color for the overskirt. The back plunges down low and the entire dress is embroidered in a stylized floral and leaf pattern BY HAND in 3 colors: white, creme and pink. 4 pearly shank buttons in the same color close the back. There also is embroidery on the sleeves, but it was very hard to capture on photo. |
More striped diversions: Carolyn's dress... |
The bodice front is a bit different, Carolyn wanted a square neckline, brazingly low, but in a lady like fashion..... The striped sheer is the same as for Bibi's dress, but in a different color. The fabric for the base dress is a deep, dark crinkle and is lacking the duo tone shimmer of Bibi's green gown. I used beaded fringe to add the finishing touches. Carolyn will wear this to the St. Georg's ball in May in Baltimore. Have fun dancing! |
The reticule that compliments her outfit... |
Jean joined a Regency quadrille dance group and had me make this gown for the purpose. The group was asked to give a performance in early Oct 2004 and the dress had a public performance! The striped sheer is the same I used for Carolyn's dress, the underlaying skirt was made of a deep wine colored georgette. A true "floater"...... She looks awesome. Thank you for sending the pics! |
